Hello friends, welcome to my blog on all things Alien. I figured I'd start from the beginning on my first post and show how "Flying Saucers" came about. The subject of UFO's and Aliens has fascinated me since I was a young kid, growing up in the Hudson Valley during the UFO sightings wave in the 1980's. I can remember my father coming home late one night from work explaining to us that he was chasing a UFO with a local Sheriff in Pawling NY. It was boomerang shaped, moving slowly along the mountain for several minutes and then quickly sped off and disappeared. During those years many sightings were reported and it became known as “The Hudson Valley Wave”. I will add a post about it in the future. Seeing strange things in the sky that I cannot explain has kept me interested in UFO/UAP's to this day. I have a strong feeling that we are not alone in the universe.
WHERE DID THE TERM FLYING SAUCER EVEN COME FROM?
June 24th 1947, 32 year old Kenneth Arnold, a businessman from Boise Idaho, was flying his single engine plane over the cascade mountains of Washington. He was enjoying the view on this clear day when a sudden flash of light filled his sight. Thinking it was an explosion, he feared the worse. After several minutes had passed with no incident, he realized there was no danger. Then it happened again. This time he was able to see where it had come from and observed a formation of shiny objects moving about at incredible speeds ahead of him.

After landing an hour later, Arnold explained to a friend and several pilots what he had just witnessed flying over Mt. Rainier. He then took off for Oregon and when landing at Pendleton airport, he was met by a group of skeptical reporters that questioned his account. When asked to describe the objects he had seen he replied, “They flew like a saucer would if you skipped it across the water”. The “Flying Saucer” was now a phenomenon with many sightings around North America being reported there after for years to follow.
